Looking the part

In preparation for doing an IRONMAN, we figured that we ought to look the part.  This, of course, is not for aesthetic reasons (though no one wants to look like an obvious clueless newbie), but rather comfort and performance.  Given all of our expensive interests, we didn't want to spend too much and got what we could find on sale.  Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with what we have so far.  I got a red Zoot suit (I love saying that) that fits me well and seems to work.  We just ordered Rachel a Orca Women's 226 Kompress Race Suit (see right) and it sure looks and sounds snazzy.
We'll have to see how well it works once we finally get it.

You can get away with less than ideal gear on short runs, rides and such but you can really pay the price in longer events.  I don't need to spend a fortune but I need to have the right gear.  Of course, everyone is a little different and will have somewhat different needs.  If I were to run a marathon in a cotton tee and without compression shorts, I'd be a limping, bloody mess by the end.  Now that I have a tri suit, I need to make sure that it works for me, in the pool, on the bike and while running.  Very excited to give it a try and an hoping that I have what I need.
